Hundreds of years before completion of the Panama Canal made water travel between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans possible across the Isthmus of Panama, people dreamed of a means of traversing the isthmus to avoid the thousands of miles of otherwise unavoidable travel around South America. Both England and France, enticed by the prospect of constructing a canal or railroad crossing the isthmus, had to abandon ambitious plans due to the magnitude of obstacles associated with such an undertaking. When the United States gained possession of Oregon and California, the need for a route from the East coast to the West coast became increasingly apparent. Perpetuating the necessity of such a travel route were the demands of the United States Post Office and the swarm of so called—-Metropolen-Europa.de—Günstige Kredite— Weiterlesen »

The airline industry is in a constant state of flux. In 2005, Trans Meridian Airlines quit doing business while EOS Airlines and Maxjet Airways took to the skies. By early 2006, Independence Air quit flying and Virgin America announced that they were seeking U.S. government approval in hopes of taking their first flight. Beyond the U.S. borders, the Mexican airline industry is in the process of being revolutionized as the Mexican government divests itself of interest in two leading carriers. With this particular decision a handful of new carriers are set to take off south of the U.S. border. To keep track of the all the changes involves a ton of work, but I’ve done the hard work for you. The following list contains all of the current airlines serving the Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Stay tuned more air carriers are certain to follow while some existing carriers may call it quits!

Did you know that a day at the beach can have a positive effect on one’s emotions? Or that even looking at a relaxing beach scene can have a calming effect? Maybe that’s why many people choose to spend their vacations at the water’s edge, either at the ocean, lake or river.
Where might you want to spend your next “water vacation?”
On an Island
There are so many island destinations around the world with fantastic beaches upon which to relax, as well as great diving, snorkeling and swimming opportunities.
Most people instantly think of the Hawaiian Islands of Hawaii, Maui, Oahu and Kauai. But if you’ve been to Hawaii and want to try something new, how about St. John, the smallest of the U.S. Virgin Islands? St. John was voted one of the “Top 5 Islands in The Caribbean, Bermuda, and the Bahamas,” by Travel + Leisure in 2006, voted one of the “Top 10 Caribbean/Atlantic Islands” by readers of Conde’ Nast Traveler in 2006, and voted “All-Around Destination” by readers of Caribbean Travel & Life in 2005.
The climate on St. John is nothing short of fantastic, ranging from the low 80s during the winter to the low- to mid-nineties in the summer. Lodging options range from pricey resorts on the beach (Caneel Bay Resort) to quite reasonable modest inns with shuttles that take you to the beach. One such modestly-priced inn is The Inn at Tamarind Court. With 20 units, 14 with bathroom, The Inn at Tarmarind Court starts at $110 - $120 for a double room in the off-season, $148 in the winter. You can reach them at 800/221-1637.

The growing demand for international travel is a by-product of the extensive efforts of many countries at tourism. This is evident in the distribution of pertinent travel literature by host countries at many overseas markets to sell local attractions to potential tourists, apart from lobbying with foreign embassies for the issuance of travel-friendly advisories.
The undeniable presence of travel agents and travel agencies in domestic markets has fast-tracked the promotion and sale of overseas destinations to locales who are enticed by discount travel rates, affordable tour packages and other vacation deals that are available at their choice destination. Apart from delivering regular sales functions, travel agencies assume the hustle and bustle related to overseas travel by providing premium services to clients. These services range from the booking of flights and hotel accommodation, securing of pertinent travel documents such as passports and visas, obtaining adequate travel insurance and coordinating with overseas agencies in the case of packaged tours. Legitimate travel agencies are usually affiliated with an international network of travel agents.—Ferienzeit ist Reisezeit. One of the most popular activities in Puerto Vallarta is a stroll down the city s famed boardwalk, the Malecon. Lined with shops, restaurants and artwork, the Malecon provides great entertainment for all ages and budgets. The young and fashionable can shop during the day and hit the restaurants and clubs at night. Families can enjoy the scenery, find plenty of friendly people and activities and rest on any of the boardwalk s many rustic benches. There is something for everyone down on the Malecon, one of Puerto Vallarta s most popular attractions.
Most visitors begin their stroll on the north end of the Malecon outside the Hotel Rosita. Here you will find the first sculpture of Puerto Vallarta s unique outdoor museum. Los Milenios, the work of Mathis Lidice, is one of the most popular and most photographed works on the boardwalk. Another of the Malecon s most famous sculptures is the Rotonda del Mar, a quirky construction of chairs by local artist Alejandro Colunga. Lying at the midway point of the Malecon, this sculpture is surrounded by benches and offers a great place to rest and enjoy the view.
On Tuesday mornings, Gary Thompson owner of the Galleria Pacifico offers public sculpture tours along the Malecon. Thompson has been involved in the Puerto Vallarta art scene for over 30 years and offers an incredible perspective on both the sculptures and the artists behind them. I never meant to buy anything! So how come I returned from the Portobello market to myespecially chosen cheap hotel with two exquisite (and much too expensive) 200 years old candlesticks? I, who had not an object at home older than 10 years…
I blame it on the otherworldly atmosphere. I blame it on the friendly and interesting faces of the stall owners. I blame it on my travel companion who kicked me in the side and said: “Come on, you know you want it!”
If you love browsing, especially older things, you should really pamper yourself and visit this extraordinary place in London, Portobello Market, Notting Hill.
It is said to be the biggest antique market in the world. Over 1500 shops and stalls selling everything you can possibly think of - IF the thing is old. And most of them belong to the Portobello Antique Dealers Association.
When?
The market itself is open on Saturdays but the shops on the Portobello Road are of course open six days a week.
Early on Saturday mornings, at about 5:30 am you’ll see the place awaken. The Antique dealers deal among themselves and some of them even come from other countries to attend.
Most of the stallowners are there at 8:00 and around 9:00 the Londoners and travelers like you and me are already there with curious faces and excitement shining in their eyes. The market is alive and will remain so until late in the afternoon.

A passport is very similar to a driver’s license in the United States. It is an globally recognized document, typically used for international travel, verifying who you are and where you’re from. Most countries require a valid passport to enter or exit. All countries issue their own globally recognized passports, the US included. The U.S. Department of State is the division of the government with the authority to grant, issue and verify United States passports.
To apply for a new passport, you’ll need some documentation proving who you are and some time to go apply. Recent changes in the passport regulations require that most applicants must appear in person to apply for one.
US citizens that have never received a passport before should bring a certified birth certificate; current and valid driver’s license, government or military ID; two passport photos that meet the requirements below and fees of $97 plus optional $60 expedited service.

Ask anyone who works from nine to five, Monday through Friday, then spends the weekend doing laundry and housecleaning, what it is he or she dreams of doing that is out of the ordinary. Without batting an eye, I’d bet a week’s pay that his or her response would be “To be able to take a couple of days away from work so I can spend some quality time with my family.”
What stops people from having that long desired holiday anyway? Based on my own practical experience, two things would — money, because most holidays require a lot of it, and time, because most of the attractive vacation spots are located far away from home.
Not so if you live anywhere near to or just a few minutes away from Sea Isle City, New Jersey. The reason: the invitingly cozy Colonnade Inn and its wonderful vacation offer.
A grand house built in 1883 as a summer hotel, the Colonnade Inn in the lovely and popular seaside resort of Sea Isle City, New Jersey, used to be just one of many hotels that provided shelter and a deliciously warm and hearty breakfast to the throngs of holiday-seekers from Philadelphia who are eager to get away from the heat of summer in the city.

As a result of the recent economic boom, housing stock in Ireland is in no short supply. However, it is being rapidly snapped up from an unusual quarter as research shows that 40% of first-time buyers in Ireland last year actually hailed from Asia!
Not unlike the UK, new houses in Ireland are small and have been ranked 10th in size among EU member countries. But despite their size and limited floor space, the increased supply of housing has created some market stability, although it is also causing problems higher up the property ladder. As first-time buyers seek to trade up their property in order to gain more space, a dwindling supply of housing at the top end of the market is causing house prices to spiral upwards; so many families are now unable to find larger, higher-quality homes at realistic price levels. In fact, recent research on worldwide urban property markets Dublin as one of many areas deemed to be severely unaffordable.
